Will ‘this stuff’ work and how?

Peter is on my mailing list and just wanted some straight answers. So I did my best.

Firstly, here is his first question:

Graham, this micro pure stuff, believe it is some sort of living bug that does the job???

In my case have a black water tank and grey as well of cause but have never done a #2 in it only wee!

After 2 years we find its rather smelly and washing out does not help so thing there must be a lot of build up of stuff!

Noticed yesterday there were some very small black flies trying to come out when you flush and also the breather pipe has a mesh lid on it full of those flies, god knows how they got up there with all the pluming!

Now with out the salesman bit, do you think that stuff will work and how?

And here is my answer:

Hi Peter

Yes I do think the stuff will work and here is how.

Over time you do have a build up. Uric acid from the wee crystallises and forms what’s called uric scale.

It is the scale that causes the smell mostly.

It is very difficult to get rid of. Usually it must be scraped off or blasted off which causes plumbing damage.

Our microbes (or living bug as you call it) do a much better job. It is like chicken soup to them.

They eat it and degrade the scale to water and odourless harmless gas. Over time the microbes build up on the walls of your tank and do the opposite of what is happening now.

While ever there is food (wee) and no chemicals, the microbes will continue to multiply and degrade the things that cause the smell.

They won’t eat the flies, but they will destroy the food source that has attracted the flies and over time they will go elsewhere or die off.

If your grey water tank is separate then you will have a similar issue there which can also be controlled with Micro Pure. Your grey water will have a build up of very small organic particles (fats, oils grease, skin, soap, hair, etc.) which can stick together and actually start to rot (smelly). Our “living bugs” will also degrade those in the same manner and once again build themselves up on the walls of your tank to keep your system clear.

As long as you use no chemicals, it will work very well for you. Without be salesmany, I know because I use it. Both David and I apply the products in many ways. I use it in my household and to eradicate smells from the septic system. David uses it in a spraycan on the cat litter box and in the wheelie bin. David’s gym fixed it’s smell in two days and cleared the scale build up.

RVs are the toughest test for us because of the closed environment (if it smells just a little bit its very uncomfortable). That’s why we recommend weekly doses. However, over time some find that they can extend the period between does as the bugs build up.

I hope all this helps? If not, ask me another question!

Regards

Graham

And he did have another question!

Thank you for so much information, tell me do the tanks have to be full or partly full for it to work? As sometimes when parked up you leave your Grey water tape open and let it on the ground maybe near a tree but in saying that am finding the hose is starting to smell as well, maybe time for a new one!

Any way tell me what you think as we are on our way too a long house site, 12 months and it maybe a good time to clean it all out!

To which I replied …

If you pour it in while the tape is open then the microbes will flush out under the tree. So that’s not a good idea.

However your hose is suffering what the rest of your plumbing is – a build up of stuff.

I would recommend that you close your hose for a week or two and allow the microbes to go to work on your whole system and build up on the walls of your tanks and hose. Then revert back to what you are doing now. You probably won’t need a new hose. What you are smelling is organic build up and it will be in your whole system after your s-bend, I’m afraid. The bugs will fix that.

Graham
